Our Mission: As a planning consultancy, our mission is to understand the community’s perspective of its
built environment and its natural resources. We believe that a successful plan defines the interplay of
those elements to create sustainable, healthful, equitable, convenient, and attractive places for current
and future generations.

Planning Better Places: Every community is unique in its cultural, economic, and environmental
conditions. Our most important goal is to provide our clients with innovative solutions that meet their
specific and individual needs. We listen and learn about the place and its people to identify the
community’s needs. Only then can we offer the type of solutions that have the potential to work. Our
plans provide actionable strategies for optimal results.

Built Environment: Planning must evaluate and understand the built environment of a community. This
includes everything from its infrastructure, development patterns, historic resources, aesthetic
character, transportation systems, and government services, to its regulatory structure and economic
conditions.

Natural Resources: Planning must thoroughly understand a location’s natural resources and how they
influence a community. These include water resources (streams, lakes, wetlands, and groundwater),
topography, habitats, fish and wildlife, vegetation types and patterns, soils, and the physical connections
between these resources.

Community Perspective: Input from members of the community is key to shaping the direction of the
planning process. Input from surveys, interviews, meetings, workshops, focus groups, and other
methods help us learn the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that must be addressed to
build a successful plan.
