Sullivan County, NY

Agriculture and Farmland Preservation Plan

Sullivan County has received a grant from New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets to update the county's agriculture and farmland protection plan. The grant is being administered through the County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board (AFPB). We are seeking input from farm producers and farmland owners so that we can understand the current state of farming in Sullivan County, what issues need addressing, and what your ideas are to further enhance agriculture. We want this plan to be action oriented, and to focus on the specific needs of farming operations in Sullivan County. The more participation we receive during this process, the better we will be able to focus on the specific strategies needed to produce a useful plan.

There will be many opportunities for you to express your thoughts about farming and its future in Sullivan County as the planning process moves forward. Information about public meetings and the plans progress will be posted on this page as it becomes available.

More information and additional resources are available on the
County's Agriculture web page.

One of the first steps in the planning process is the development of a set of surveys for the public, for farm operators, and for municipal officials. These surveys will help us complete an inventory of farm operations, as well as provide us with some insight about your opinions on matters that affect farming in Sullivan County.

The public survey is available online through this link:

The farm operator's survey is available through this link:

The municipal officials survey will also be available near the end of March, and will be available through this link (link will be live when the survey is finalized):

Notes from the monthly meetings will be posted here
